Communication During Quarantine

Hello and how are you doing out there? My goodness we sure are in a special time unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before aren’t we? First and foremost I hope you all are safe, healthy, happy and checking in regularly with yourself and your cherished loved ones. We all need support right now in different ways and thankfully for our digital world we can still be that safely FROM HOME. For all of those supporting from the front line unable to quarantine, putting yourselves at risk to save lives in whatever capacity that may be, I hope I can collectively say a big Thank You from us all.

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” -Serenity Prayer

I want to offer a huge virtual hug to each and everyone of you. I encourage good tight hugs in your home often right now and getting the whole household to take dance breaks. The silly chicken dance has been working wonders in our home for upping the energy and laughter daily, try it. Be a light of positivity by reminding anyone in your home (pets count too) that you are grateful for them and everything they are doing, consistently. All of our schedules have been altered, our normalcy disrupted and uncertainty laid itself over the entire world like a not so cozy blanket in one quick swoop. None of us are alone in this. It’s a time of choices. We will be faced with how we choose to show up each day as we open our eyes to begin again. My hope, is we all choose mindfully to expand our awareness, connect to gratitude for what we have and express wholehearted love to each other. I believe in silver linings, the teachings in challenges and even when it doesn’t make any sense at all I choose to trust I am right where I am suppose to be. It all takes practice but the outcome of feeling good— mind, body and spirit is worth the effort. I also fully embrace vulnerability and the importance of not numbing our feelings but allowing them to process as we move through them. A messy cry can do wonders and being willing to ask someone for support is everything. Communicating with each other is an essential part of our self-care today. Finding your inner calm in the outside world’s chaos is a gift you can give yourself.

There is no shortage of mindful free resources at this time either. The wellness community and a variety of other dynamic programs have exploded with FREE offerings to help occupy our time at home. I thank all the individuals and brands doing this, it’s exceptional. So you don't end up scrolling forever or feeling overwhelmed by all the options, I recommend picking 2-3 wellness resources you know you love and 2-3 fun/ hobby things you know you'd enjoy learning or doing and stick to those. Schedule them in your calendar as much or little as you want. If you do any, great. If not embrace what you did instead! So far my attempt to join two live yoga classes has been me becoming a human jungle gym for my daughter with giggles to boot. I'm not complaining at all. Taking it moment by moment here.

And let’s be honest, not everyone’s day permits jamming it full of creative courses or fitness classes, am I right? Many are just trying to manage jobs from home and children being cared for in the best way possible as a new normal. I think it’s good to be reminded our children are deeply impacted by these sudden changes too. If you have kids let them inspire you to drop back in to your childish place of creativity and encourage open communication about feelings. You won’t need an on-line course for that. Everyone in a partnership; TEAM WORK is the name of the game. I’m finding “how can I help” to be a very useful phrase we all appreciate. And just a reminder in case you need it today, “you’re all doing an amazing job”. The time we get to spend with our families right now in this way will quite possibly never happen again when we get through this. Anyone on their own, I’m praying for your solitude to be met with cultivating those supportive connections and activities that empower your amazing divine self! It’s all so very temporary. Relish in it’s simple beauty. We ALL need to be gentle with ourselves right now in every way, shape and form.

While I juggle my effervescent toddler, soaking up this time with her and my incredibly supportive husband my heart is absolutely saying “share mindful practices with all of you” as well. I’ve offered a few LIVE Instagram Yoga practices so far with an additional STRONG SLOW FLOW SUNDAY 3/29 at 4PM on the upcoming calendar. I’m doing my best to use some of this time to create more content you’ll be able to access anytime. MacArthur Place Hotel in Sonoma where I usually teach weekly has been a helpful catalyst encouraging me while I lead practices from home and sharing on their Facebook page. Feel free to check out www.andreabogartyoga.com for more information on my teaching style and what I’m offering week to week from home during our quarantine. I’d love to have you join me.

At home wellness has probably never been more important and I want to inspire you keep moving your bodies, nurture yourselves with nutritional food supportive for your overall health, take moments to quiet your mind and keep communicating with everyone you love. Check-in with your habits. What routines and patterns are giving you the goodness you need and what one’s are not. Your awareness and choices you make with things that serve you best are going to create positive ripples with-in you and those you give energy to. We are 100% going to come out of this stronger, wiser, more connected and thriving in new ways. I’m here if you guys need me, always. Feel free to leave a comment or ask any questions. Ok, one more tight squeeze. Hope you felt that virtual hug and pass it on… virtually as well if necessary. Take good care of yourselves, please stay home if your career path permits that and thank you for being a part of my community I feel really grateful to have. All my love and blessings.

xoxo Andrea
