Are You Full Of THANKS and GIVING?

Happy Thanksgiving my sweet souls… are you ready for the feast and the fun? This is truly one of my favorite holidays. Who doesn’t love a beautiful meal that brings people together whether it’s family gathering or a giant Friendsgiving! What I’ve realized matters most though, is getting to share it with the people you love. So put your phones away today, be social, connect with each other and be present. It’s just the best, so please enjoy to the fullest.

In past years, I’ve either taken great joy helping host or delighted in preparing one of my favorite dishes to contribute to a gathering and yes, I’m a total sucker for watching The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. (Fun fact: 1993 & 1997 I was in the parade as a dancer, I wish I had digital pix to share). Quite chilly but fun and unforgettable NY trips!

Although this year will be much different as I’m in Doha, Qatar where Thanksgiving is not celebrated— I am at least with my husband and little nugget and that means everything. I will find my way to some turkey and a fabulous green bean Arabic dish if it kills me. I’ve already been researching how I can stream the parade live from my computer. And then… let the Christmas carols begin!

We will soon venture from our upper seventy degree temperatures and ocean dips to the winter wonderland of Norway and Missouri getting the full magic of Christmas with our families. I’m looking forward to that too!

I’m beyond grateful for the experiences we get to have as a traveling family. Watching our baby girl smile, shake hands and blow kisses to every different ethnicity of people we encounter is a beautiful thing to witness. Although she’s too young to notice the cultural experience she’s already having I hope it will continue to open her heart to all people in loving way. I’m almost a half a day ahead of most of you in the U.S. surround by the Persian Gulf and palm trees. I’m feeling thankful and blessed to get to see the world and venture to places I didn’t even know existed. (You can google Qatar now too)

I have so many wonderful memories of all the different ways I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving and this will be another. No matter where you are we can all take time to reflect on our blessings, give thanks and also think about ways we can give back. I hope to host a yoga event in the new year and donate all the proceeds to California Fire relief. It’s been a tough few years for residents and I know that’s one thing I can do from my heart.

It's my first official Mother's Day and it has me beaming as I look at my daughter and reflect on how beautiful creating a little human is. The experience of Motherhood is absolutely extraordinary isn't it? It comes with so many feelings & responsibilities that aren't always a walk in the park either so I love that there is an extra special day to celebrate how tremendous MOTHERHOOD is. Let's give it up to Woodrow Wilson for establishing this as National celebration more than 100 years ago.

Even if you aren't a mama, YOU were brought into the world by one and that is just another reason to pause and feel thanks. Cherishing my Mom for all that she has done for me and countless sacrifices she's made to make life a little sweeter is on-going. I can't even begin to explain how happy it makes me that she "finally" get's to see me as a mama. My babygirl will have an opportunity to experience how lovely she is—Grandmas are so very special. 

I say "finally" with grace. Beginning Motherhood at forty years old wouldn't have been what I ever imagined as I wrote in my dear diaries growing up. I see now how life's up's and down's placed me perfectly where I needed to be. Sometimes trusting the timing of your life can be so hard but also the most beautiful sense of contentment when you arrive. Today I'm still pinching myself in awe of the wonderful man I'm about to marry and with his help... I became a mom ten months ago. It's changed me forever in the best ways possible.

I hope I can be an inspiration in leading a healthy, happy lifestyle for you and your family regardless of the age you get started. I offer my strength and courage to the women who think they've missed their window or have lost faith in finding that amazing partner to share in the journey of parenthood with you. If you know you are destined to be a mother, never loose site of that. And if you know you want to share that experience with someone else... believe they will find you. 

There was a time where I convinced myself I would be fine if I didn’t meet the right person to share my life with and get to have a family of my own. I was consumed with limiting beliefs and fear was highjacking the life I hoped for. I believe the shape that my life took once I really committed to yoga— which lead to healthier choices and a deeper sense of compassion for myself and others is what opened my heart to receive and give the love I have in my relationship today. As a parent I hope to continue to deepen these practices and create mindfulness in our home that everyone in our family will grow from. My life is bigger and fuller than I thought it could be. I'm wishing you all that and more.

Inspired To Help Our Planet?

Well hello and Happy Earth Day guys! Doesn't a day like today give us reason to celebrate by showing some appreciation and also ask ourselves, "what am I doing to help our planet?"

I can honestly say... I WISH I WAS DOING MORE! My efforts can be grander, wiser and more thoughtful for sure, how about yours? I'm not going to give a long winded blog about how we can all be more conscious or list my greatest tips on what I think that looks like. Instead I'm going to say HAPPY EARTH DAY and simply encourage us to all get a little more curious about what we can do.

A few years ago I lead a yoga event in Malibu and a beautiful yogi named, Goli Gabbay attended. After the yoga we all we're visiting and getting to vibe with like-minded souls. As I learned more about her, she gave me one simple suggestion that has stuck with me. She said "just tell waiters at restaurants you don't need a plastic straw and if you buy them for home use— stop." Visit Goli's website for more on the impact she's making and desires to uplift people, animals and the planet. I don't claim to know her well, but in the few times I've met her she left a feeling with me of wanting to do more, try harder and get interested in how I can make changes to support our planet. Our curiosities lead to actions and our actions lead to results.

I lead a health conscious lifestyle, I recycle, I support sustainable & eco friendly companies and products wherever I can and make a great effort to buy less plastic! I do have metal, reusable straws which I love and use a copper water bottle {USE ANDREA for a discount on yours}. That doesn't seem like enough when I read about the plastic pollution problems alone. What if we all just picked one thing we could change or stopped buying or using that would support global wellness... the difference we could make would be incredible! 

My favorite way to get excited about making change is to unplug and connect with nature... Hawaii was one place I spent time doing just that— simply appreciating our planet. We have to take better care of our home and together we can. 

We need the tonic of wildness—to wade sometimes in marshes where the bittern and the meadow-hen lurk, and hear the booming of the snipe; to smell the whispering sedge where only some wilder and more solitary fowl builds her nest, and the mink crawls with its belly close to the ground. Ending The Year With Resilience, Who's With Me?

Hi gorgeous souls... hope you're all amazing and cruising into December with some grace and resilience. There is no time like the present to focus on what we have accomplished and use our heroic compassion to end the year strong.

Back in early September I decided (with resistance) to be a leader for the 5th annual Get My Body Back 90 Day Challenge put on by my women's goals group The New Hollywood; which is dedicated to supporting socially conscious storytellers and change-maker's. As a member and leader I committed to ten minutes of alternating booty and core work daily and posting an Inspirational Addict blog every Sunday supporting our mind, body spirit journey. While the challenge ends December 11th and I did not successfully complete my ten minutes of alternating booty/core daily portion, I will successfully complete this year with some bad ass resilience so I can start 2018 out with a bang. 

Who has ever set out to do something, even a small thing that you didn't complete and get to hold your glory torch for? Please tell me I'm not alone here? So what do we do with that feeling? It's pretty easy to fall into the negative-nelly lister trap. You take that one thing you didn't do and start dissecting how many other things you didn't do and pile it on top until you feel the weight like a sack of wet sand pushing you down. Let's not do that, OK? 

I had every intention of just coasting through my challenge as it felt very manageable. I did not intend on being evacuated from our home and spending a month in hotels wondering if it would survive the devastating North Bay Fires that hit us hard in October (we were spared, I'm eternally gratefully). While I found great comfort in continuing my writing during that time and my Sunday blogs lived on... the booty/core work slipped to the side. I made a deal with myself to get back on track even though I lost the challenge. It's happening but not always daily. And may I mention when I say lost, my $280 I put in to participate will be going to a charity I love, Youth Yoga, so more of a gain than loss really. While no excuse matters in our book, I refuse to beat myself up about it. I am more interested in letting that show me something I can grow from... ahh resilience kicking in. For instance, how I can manage my time better or being ok with what's most important to me in crisis or how to pick back up with a positive mindset. Allowing discoveries and new opportunities to shine through instead of feeling like a deflated failure is where we connect to a greater good with-in. Let's jump in there together.

TIPS FOR BEING RESILIENT 

  • PRACTICE GRATITUDE– I'm finding that I often find this at the top of all my tips and there's great reason for it. It works. Practicing gratitude has purpose that will shift your perspective instantly. When you take a failure, loss or negative attitude and start thinking about the silver lining your energy is now putting out more of what you'd like to have come back. Use this as a beautiful skill you are incredibly capable of doing anytime. My hack: take one thing you're feeling disappointed about and think about three reasons why it's all good.
  • GET CLEAR– Establishing clarity can be one of the most beneficial ways to put a strong attitude back on top. Respect your vulnerabilities by acknowledging your weaknesses and your positive attributes. When your humble, self-aware approach takes the drivers seat you will identity the why of situations more clearly. Save yourself from looking to blame others and own the things that are in your control to move forward positively.
  • IMPLEMENT A PLAN– Often we naturally think of failure as an end point. Not those of us practicing resilience! With a different view let's envision it as the start of a new opportunity to create a different approach. The choices we make with a desire to become better is a confident way of committing to your resilient mindset.

As another year is quickly coming to an end, I want to lean into all the magnificent things that have happened, the opportunities I've created, the goals I've achieved and absorb that... I hope you'll do the same. New Show, New Role in Zac And Mia

Is Andrea still acting? It's a heartfelt question I had to ask myself as well. A lot of years have been spent investing my heart and soul into a craft I'm incredibly passionate about. It's not an easy one to walk away from. So I haven't....

Becoming a mamma and moving away from the daily grind of Hollywood to start a family doesn't necessarily put me in the running like it used to. With that being said, there are also more opportunities to self-tape and new content popping up all over digital media creating more work. I'm happy to report, I, along with a great team, am actively keeping in the mix on projects that make sense for me. While my real life role as a mamma gives me more to consider as things come my way, it's exciting, challenging and gives way for me to listen to my heart that much more.

While I was pregnant with our baby girl last spring I shot a movie that immediately sold to LIFETIME. Shortly after that I was offered a recurring role on an Awesomeness TV web series titled Zac & Mia, (Go90 Production) which I joyously accepted. I had hoped I would work some while I was carrying around my mini in my tummy but you just never know. Getting offers and being excited about roles always gives me momentum and that yearning for more jobs. What fun it's been playing a mom to some young gorgeous teenagers. I guess life is preparing me a little bit for what's to come, I joke, but I also remember being a teen, yikes. 

After I read Zac & Mia (originally a book by A.J. Betts) I immediately said YES. It captured my heart quickly with two ordinary teenagers connecting during treatment for cancer. Too many people today are diagnosed with various forms; some caught early enough to treat and recover and others considered terminal. I think we all have a story of someone lost too soon to cancer. While the content of the show is heavy there's a lot of love and heart brought forth and some super talented millennial's bringing great work to the table. It's premiering this week 11/7 and already been issued a season 2. My role (Krista Phillips) as the somewhat displaced 34 year old mom to my 17 year old daughter (Anna Winters) is challenged by their dynamic relationship. I'm back to work in LA this week and delighted they have brought me on to recur this season as well. I hope you'll tune in, share it... become a subscriber and comment that you REALLY love my character (I'm kidding, unless you want to... thanks in advance, hee hee hee :)

Since I know wholeheartedly the majority of my amazing fan base began with my days playing the older girlfriend, Abby Haver, to Michael Corinthos (played by Chad Duell) on ABC's Emmy Award winning soap General Hospital, I always feel it necessary to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you as well... you genuinely have stuck by me in all my endeavors and continue to give so much support! 

I haven't had that many straight offers in my career but the one's I have, have turned out to be some of the best and become much more than I ever anticipated. Big bslessigs to say the least and I'm incredibly thankful to the powers whom decide to give me these opportunities. I'm a proud mamma to be back at it. Looking forward to working this month in LA and hope there is more to come. As long as Hollywood keeps calling... I'm enthusiastically picking up!

MINDFULLY START YOUR DAY BEFORE YOUR FEET EVEN HIT THE FLOOR

Happy Soulful Sunday... are you ready to start your week off with a bang? I am, I hope you'll join me with some thoughtful intentions leading the way.

Inspirational Addict Mindfully Start Your Day with Intentions

Are you set on auto pilot? How much of the first few minutes of your day are spent going through the motions without much awareness? Do you have multiple alarms set for waking up or reach for your phone and immediately start responding to things or possibly shower and brush your teeth with your eyes half open? All of which are things I've gotten caught up doing at various times in my life. Think of creating awareness as a gift to your soul... rather than inflicting any sort of shame on your behaviors. These are the places from which we grow.

I'm not quite sure where I picked up my actions from, but a while ago, my curiosity about how I started my day inspired me to make some changes. Upon waking, I sit up in bed and take three deep inhales and exhales linking my breath to a seated sun salutation. As I finish the third one with my hands at heart center, I set an intention. This is a way for me to mindfully start my day before my feet even hit the floor. This action rippled into more rituals (morning and night) that even with a newborn, I try to diligently make happen daily.

My introduction to setting intentions came from a consistent yoga practice, which I love and incorporate into my own teachings today. I never had much thought around mindfully starting my day before yoga and it's a big part of why I am always curious about how to better myself. Prayer has been and will always be a part of my life but there is something different about setting intentions that feels purposeful. I can attest that you really don't make changes in your life that stick until you want to make changes and commit. 

To mindfully start your day with a morning routine you absolutely have to make one that's right for you. We all have different lifestyles and commitments. I suggest you doing something you may enjoy or be curious about trying for starters. I tend to stack things into what I'm already doing and find that helps me be consistent. For example, in addition to doing my three breaths which ground me and give me a little stretch as I set an intention, I also use my early morning breastfeeding sessions for meditation and doing my three daily gratitudes. I take down a glass of water first thing, which I set next to my bed the night before.  My man and I make a Vega One protein drink after we stretch for 10-15 minutes. These are all things I enjoy and yes, are challenging at times but have become more habitual now and if I miss doing something... I have that feeling that I didn't do part of what supports my productivity throughout my day. This is me... what's your morning look like for you? Believe me, it was different when I was single. It was even more different before my yoga practice began and with a beautiful, growing baby girl, I'm sure it will take a new shape again soon. Being open to the shifts and changes with your lifestyle is also a dynamic part of you being mindful. Trust in that. 

My talented fiancé, Erik Almas, and I wanted to shoot something together that we created. This was very much inspired by how I make great efforts to mindfully start my day... I hope what ever your morning looks like, you have an awareness around your actions and do at least one thing for yourself that feels, grounding, uplifting and provokes some joy that carries you throughout your day!

How To Make Sleep A Priority In Your Life With Recommendations From Author, Arianna Huffington's Book "The Sleep Revolution"

Ahh the beauty of sleep and the not so beautiful reality of how little we get sometimes, right?

Is sleep a priority in your life? Author, Arianna Huffington, pointedly presents “We are in the midst of a sleep deprivation crisis," in her book "THE SLEEP REVOLUTION: Transforming Your Life One Night At A Time." 

As I opened up to my own awareness, it took a lifestyle shift to recognize how valuable sleeping seven to eight hours a night is for me. “I can function really well on just four to five hours of sleep,” used to be a coined phrase of mine. I don’t think I’m alone in this cultural way of thinking, as at large, society wears our lack of sleep as a badge of honor. I could give example after example where sleep was at the bottom of my priority list as I thought less sleep would give me more hours in the day to be creative and productive as I worked hard to fulfill my dreams. It did the very opposite. Emotional, irritable, decision fatigue, relationship turmoil, being unprepared, and running late were at the top of my list for lack of sleep affecting my days negatively. Does this sound like you? Making a commitment to sleep has kept me healthier, happier and more inspired than ever before. You can always make changes, remember that. 

TIP #1 IDENTIFY WHY SLEEP IS IMPORTANT TO YOU

Sit down for 10 minutes or more and journal why sleep is important to you and how you can make changes to ensure you get more of it. I love asking myself WHY. When you have a visual written down you gain clarity and are more likely to connect with doing what it takes to make it happen. For example: Sleep is important for my health. My immune system is stronger when I'm well rested giving me energy for my days and I rarely get sick. To maintain good health I need eight hours of sleep a night. 

TIP #2 CREATE A BED TIME RITUAL

Say "NO" to late night TV and power down your devices at least 30 minutes to one hour or more before heading to bed. Make a cup of tea and grab a book. Or maybe it's turning down the lights, reading a story to your kids and taking a bath. Whatever it is, let it be 20-30 minutes of winding down and shutting off the work and prepare yourself for a peaceful sleep. I'm a big fan of some romantic time with my honey, meditations, writing three gratitudes in my journal and singing or reading to our baby girl. I constantly struggle with doing things on my phone at night. Part of why I love that Arianna suggests we leave them out of the bedroom, so we are not tempted to be on them disrupting our bed time rituals. 

TIP #3 ALIGHN YOUR SLEEP WITH YOUR NATURAL BODY CLOCK

Even if your schedule is different daily or you can sleep in on the weekends... try to goto bed and wake up at similar times daily. Notice when you naturally get tired so you'll be less likely to toss and turn. Let your internal clock guide you, which helps with supporting the quality of your sleep. If you're interested in Ayurvedic sleep cycles you'll eat light, be in bed by 10PM and naturally wake up when you're well rested. When I do this, I almost always wake up right before my alarm.  

My fiancé and I just welcomed our newborn into the world so with compromise and support we hope to still be a well rested family. That may be laughable but we will strive for our best as we both understand we are better for ourselves, each other and supporting our work ethics and lifestyles when we have proper sleep. If you have yet to figure out a way to make sleep one of, if not the most important thing you can do for yourself…grab this book immediately and try the tips I've recommended. 

Whether you are a sound sleeper or you struggle catching a proper nights rest, this crucial element to our health and well being can easily fall into a place of neglect. Arianna takes us through multiple dimensions of our relationship to sleep from the time we are babies to adulthood. Her exploration of science reveals there are endless imposing disruptions that can lead us into a place of denial and disillusion about how much sleep plays a role in our overall health and happiness. As a holistic-wellness influencer, I appreciate her tackling the sleeping pill industry in hopes to encourage us all to create a sanctuary in our bedrooms, leaving our devices out of this space to embrace a bedtime routine that supports you falling into a mindful and well rested place of sleep not aided by the overuse of pills. I have found grace in night time rituals to wind down while I am still working on leaving devices out of our bedroom. This book takes you through several examples and habits we all have experienced or may still be experiencing. With personal examples, advice and investigative research it's a great read to open up your own awareness about your own sleep. Take back control of turning off the work and powering down and notice how you can transform your life one night at a time.

HELLO LITTLE PERSON GROWING IN MY BELLY

I often find myself just staring at my tummy waiting for any sort of movement that instantly makes me giggle and shockingly gasp like it's the first time, every time. It triggers a love fest with my belly that I simply cherish right now. Somedays I'm in disbelief that I'm going to be a mom and a wife and that there really is a tiny human inside there growing everyday. And as things have progressed, I catch a glimpse of my newly shaped profile looking like I've swallowed a watermelon, feel her fighting for space to stretch her tiny limbs and I relish in happiness again and again. She's just waiting to bless us with her presence and say "hello world, I am here." Gush right?

It seems to be quite common that many women in their last trimester have made those decisions with their partners to see how many things they can do at once with the hopes to be settled before the baby arrival day. Anyone else move, change jobs, get married or perhaps did all three during your nine months of preparing for mommy hood and can relate to this? I'm bearing witness to it not just being a cliche the pregnancy books write about but I genuinely feel my body and mind begging for everything to slow down. Widely referred to as the "nesting" period. I'm listening loud and clear now and getting settled is wonderful and something I truly am grateful for.  I hope the same for any of you.

I've delighted in my yoga practice and have continued to teach as much as I can for the calming aspect it brings to my soul regularly. It's lovely to know I'm getting a gift from my classes and private clients as we share in something that remarkably benefits my mind, body & spirit during this process. I give major props to all the women out there juggling whatever various tasks, jobs & activities you may be involved in during pregnancy– you are truly women of strength and courage.

HOW AWARE ARE WE?

How aware are we I ask?  

We can be aware of the obvious things for sure; emotions we feel, our responsibilities, the routine of how we move through our days, food we eat, amount of exercise we get, what we tune-in to and tune-out, judgments we make on ourselves, energy we put out into the world… you get the idea. Do you ever wonder if you’re just going through the motions of life missing out on that deeper connection to your self-awareness? And even more importantly, how does your answer make you feel?

A few helpful questions to increase your awareness with the examples I listed above:

  1. Do you push away emotions or invited them in? 
  2. Are you enjoying or dreading your responsibilities?
  3. How present are you as you move through your day?
  4. Do you make food choices that support your health and goals?
  5. Is it important to you that you get daily physical exercise?
  6. What kind of environment are you creating for yourself? 
  7. Are you judging the choices you make with compassion or negative self talk?
  8. Would the people in your environment say you are kind, loving and joyful to be around?

I truly believe, through our awareness it as just as easy to create wonderful, life changing habits as it is to fall into bad ones. It’s the desire to be aware that will dictate how much you enrich your life and strive for your greatest potential. We all want this don’t we? Take a moment to smile here and thank yourself for the awareness you have and trust that you are only going to expand and grow from here on out! 

Various circumstances and mainly excuses kept me from committing to a yoga practice many years ago and I wouldn’t have had a clue how to meditate. Sit still and be quiet, oh my... I couldn’t do that, that’s just weird unless I’m sleeping… would have been my inner monologue. When I landed in a yoga practice I loved, I began to lean-in to how I could expand my awareness and that uplifted me. Being a witness to the challenges I faced on my mat revealed the same challenges I had in life and I wanted to look at that. Yoga was becoming an emotional experience filled with vulnerability, happiness, resistance, letting go of ego, challenges, peace and a wonderful sense of increased awareness. Not to mention, keeping me in great shape. I fell deeply in love and made it a commitment I knew I had to share with others. 

There are days I’m extremely proud of my progress with being aware, present and connected and there are days I ignore my significant other as I create a social media post while I juggle car keys, grocery bags and getting the mail

I love inspiring a mindful lifestyle in general and as a yoga instructor I have a responsibility to my students to encourage them to connect to their awareness.  My hope is that it propels each person to want to live a mindful life filled with happiness. Being an instructor doesn’t make me better, more self-aware or give me super powers but I see it as a beautiful gift that serves my life well and supports my core beliefs in the effort to practice what I share.

SETTING AN INTENTION

How do you set an intention for yourself?

I am reminded through Oprah and Deepak meditations, how the power of setting intentions drives our personal reality. Aligned with your beliefs and values, intentions create wander and put positive energy into your mind and out into the world. Why not give yourself such freedom to be creative and enjoy how it can uplift you as you believe what you see?

Before I started practicing yoga and meditating, I believe the only intentions I set were through prayer as I grew up going to church with my family, which to this day, I have such appreciation for. I didn’t have awareness around consciously setting intentions until I started hearing it in the yoga classes I would take and responding happily to it. As a competitive dancer and tumbler in my youth I definitely remember those crucial moments right before performances or competitions as I hit my mark, found my beginning post and suddenly a rant of thoughts went through my head; I'm scaredjust breathe, don't mess up, do your best, don't forget to smile, just have fun Andrea, stick your landing, use facial expressions, don't bite your lip, I hope I don't fall... you get the idea. I had no idea how to control this mindless chatter with fear often highjacking the positive.  

When I shifted into being an actress in my twenties, audition filled days caused a free-flowing stream of these types of rants in my head all over again. Thoughts would hang on me as I entered rooms causing me to feel in limbo between having fun and doing my best or flopping and leaving frustrated. I've always had my things I do to prepare but as I grow, I dig bringing awareness into simplifying thoughts which leads to more clarity when I need it. 

As "intention" setting in yoga class migrated its way into audition rooms, my morning rituals and meditations, I knew it would be an important thing to share in the yoga classes I instruct.  Encouraging others to take the moment to get still, feel right where you are, take a deep breath in and out and let an intention come to mind is a moment worthy of exploring. 

After recently spending time with my nieces I realized sharing the importance of how to set an intention could inspire them as they prepared for their dance recital. When I asked them if they were excited about their show, they reminded me of myself when I was young.  All the same fears and worries overpowered them being able to relax and say positive things to themselves. What a perfect time to share with them my past similarities and what I've learned that can be calming in these nerve racking situations.  I reminded them that it's ok to feel nervous and that sometimes it's just excitement brewing too, which can be the little adrenaline rush you use to give it your all! 

There are several ways to get to intention setting, here are a few tips to the process I often use:

  • Close your eyes, get still and connect with your inhale and exhale.
  • Ask yourself where you would like support?
  • Think short term and in the moment.
  • Invite in clarity with-in your thoughts.
  • From that thought grab a positive word or phrase that inspires where you want that support.
  • Your intention is set, say it to yourself as you breathe in and out a few times and let it uplift you!

Example of mine today: I will nurture myself with compassion and be proud of my accomplishments today. 

I decided to have some more fun with my nieces in sharing this "intention" setting process through a company I love, called MyIntent. I met founder, Chris Pan about 2 years ago at a sunset rooftop yoga I was leading and immediately connected with him. As Chris has grown MyIntent into something authentic with purpose behind it, I get excited to share the goodness that he’s paying forward, spreading light into the world. 

The girls and I sat together at the kitchen table. They all wrote on their cards what their word was and why they chose it and I took to my craftsmanship to make them their bracelets with the MyIntent maker kit. To sit and have these moments with them is priceless and better than any post I could share. I'm a fan of creating an open dialogue with our youth which gives us all permission to share what we are feeling and bring light to what we'd like our intentions to be. I'm proud of my nieces for the inspiration they give me and are putting out there for themselves. 

I'm on my third word and bracelet since meeting Chris.  As we shift and grow our intentions can change. I'd love to share mine because they've greatly reflected what I've brought into my life. My why included was written during the time of choosing that word. 

  1.  2014 was Let it Happen: I often worry about the future in many aspects and even as I feel like a motivated, genuinely happy person, I create unnecessary stress by seeking results or needing to "know" how things will turn out too often. I aspire to be more present and let things organically happen. Embrace what IS here and now. Let It Happen.
  2. 2015 was Perspective: I catch myself easily slipping into thoughts of self doubt, frustration, and having my opinions about the way I feel about things that can be judgmental. I will challenge myself in these moments to be open and shift my perspective in a positive way, respecting all beings and inspiring a stronger sense of self acceptance. Perspective.
  3. 2016 is Compassion: This one was chosen for me by my guy, Erik Almas, whom also made it for me. Erik encouraged me to have better "self talk". I will be aware of the things say aloud in front of others and in my own inner dialogue. I will acknowledge the way I look at myself and see things with tenderness and compassion rather than be so critical. Compassion.
